HISTORY
Things usually never go as planned - they sure didn't for us!
There must be a better way
Mid way through 2008, SupplaServe founder, Chris Straface, decided it was time to end the hassles associated with nutritional supplements. They were never where he wanted them. They were never easy to transfer from bulk to serving size. They were at his apartment when he was at the gym.It was all together, a bad situation. There I was, a 21 year old college student, spending hundreds of dollars on these products - the least those companies could have done was put the time and energy into finding a better way to sell their products to make life better for the customer. It was a joke".
Unraveling a mess
Unfortunately, after hundreds of hours of work, Chris and his business partners decided their original method of delivering these products was not feasible because they had no way of procuring the supplements in a single-serve pre-dosed size. First, a rigid single-serve package didn't exist to accommodate a majority of the products. Second, the commercially available single-serve packs, or 'pillow-packs', didn't solve any problems - in fact, they created bigger problems. They had reached their first ultimatum: give up or dive into the packaging industry and innovate a category of packaging that had seen no prior innovation. It was a no brainer..."
Size does matter
SupplaServe, now a boutique package design firm, was under way on their rigid single-serve packaging devices. After hundreds of iterations, design changes and tooling changes, we finally had the right recipe for success - we called it, the SuppShot, a first-of-its-kind device that looked like a spaceship."
We welcome challenges
Half way through 2011, SupplaServe is still hard at work. With multiple patents pending, we are excited to bring the SuppShot to market. We still face challenges, and given the state of the economy, things keep getting harder. The SuppShot is SO unique, finding packaging and automation equipment to handle our fulfillment and backend services, is an uphill battle. But we love those hills - we run them in the wee-hours of the morning, and are certainly prepared to take them on in the office. We are working with the best names in packaging equipment and hold high expectations for our automated filling equipment."
